The Story So Far
Pigeon Feeding Business interests have brought together two of Ireland’s
much respected pigeon enthusiasts and entrepreneurs namely Mr Ian
Gibb from Northern Ireland and Mr Henry Byrne from Southern Ireland,
together in such a short space of time and with the same objectives
they have searched the world, bought the best, created and crafted
a Stud of pigeons second to none, incorporating many of the current
European elite. This Gibb & Byrne website will characterize,
illustrate and signify the high quality of pigeons and families
housed at the £40,000 custom built lofts sited in Lisburn,
Co.Antrim as a true reflection of the sheer class and quality that
can be assured at all times from what is regarded as one of the
leading studs currently in the European market. With our main objective
in providing a Stud that can continue to produce winners, we monitor
the pigeon racing patterns just not in Ireland & the UK but
around Europe on a daily basis making contact with our expansive
list of successful fanciers and lofts and through this, we have
and continue to invest heavily in purchasing Elite pigeons from
many of the Modern Day winning families from the Continent &
UK making it much more easier and cost effective for you purchasing
the winning bloodlines that are winning around the world today.

Soontjens
At the Gibb & Byrne Stud we are proud to own one of the finest
collections of Jos Soontjen pigeons anywhere in Europe with pigeons
such as “The Statesman”, “Miss Atom”, “The
Schoular”, “The Bl Witpen”, “The Stud”,
“The Dandy cock”, “De 916” also the multiple
RPRA Award Winner “Champion Strauss” to name just a
few. Having firstly bought out J S Lofts in 2001 we subsequently
continued to add only performance pigeons to this already award
winning family of exceptional stock pigeons including more recently
“The 147” winner of 1st Club, 1st Section, 1st Open
EDC Skibbereen Classic 1,187 Birds; 1st Club, 3rd Section, 4th Open
EDC Fermoy 6,107 Birds; 2nd Club, 6th Section, 6th Open EDC Thurles
4,894 birds; 1st Club, 1st Section, 1st Open EDC Thurles 6,312 Birds;
1st Club, 1st Section, 3rd Open Tullamore 3,833 Birds. Plus many
more positions. The ‘147’ was also EDC Bird of the Year
in 2006. We also purchased his brother “The 718” winner
of 1st Club, 1st Section, and 1st Open East Down Combine Mallow
5,541 pigeons. This family of Jos Soontjens have been responsible
every year for winners just not for us but for many fanciers in
Ireland and the U.K.
Van
Hove – Uytterhoeven
From the Putte area of Belgium, what a record this Middle Distance
Van Hove – Uytterhoeven team have over the years, this family
of pigeons goes all the way back to the old "Havenith"
Strain. They have won no less than 5 x 1st National and 7 x New
Cars during an illustrious racing career, more importantly they
have produced many exceptional pigeons for many top fanciers in
Europe over the years and it was an honour for us to have the opportunity
in handling the Champions and selecting an Elite and expansive team
to purchase and bring back to Ireland. Some performances obtained
by the Van Hove team in 2009 are as follows:- 3rd, 17th, 22nd, 28th,

Van Tilbourg
At the tender age of 85 what has this exceptional Sprint/Middle
Distance Fancier from Putte not achieved? Everybody in the world
knows the big names in Belgium and Holland. But there are many small
players that can be sourced who also race exceptionally well, yes
we have Janssen, Koopman, Houben, Ludo Claessens, Bosua, Van Dyck,
Engels, Vandenabeele, Soontjens, Jos Thone and so many others. Frans
Van Tilbourg has an electrifying record just not in his Club or
Area but the North Antwerp Union with a membership of 2,000 +. Simply
he has been crowned “THE KING” in 2003, 2004, 2005,
2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. On top of this in 2008 he had 1st &
2nd ACE Pigeon Yearlings, 1st ACE Young Bird and 2nd ACE O/Bird.
Same story in 2009 with 1st & 2nd ACE Y/Birds, 2nd ACE Yearling
and 1st ACE O/Birds. Remembering that this 85 year old small team
fancier is competing against some exceptional names in that 2,000
strong NAV membership. Once again we are very privileged to have
visited Frans Van Tilbourg during one of our trips to the Continent
and purchased a superb consignment of Elite pigeons once again at
exceptional cost. Many fanciers visiting our Stud have already commented
when seeing the Van Tilbourgs.
Wim
De Troy
Another fancier we have had the opportunity to purchase from is
the excellent Wim De Troy from Berlaar on the outskirts of Lier.
Wim was one of the best Sprint fanciers around, and decided to pursue
the middle distance a few years ago. Since then he has never looked
back with scores of 1st’s and is now regarded as one of the
finest Middle Distance fanciers in the Antwerp Union. Over the last
couple of years for instance 2007 he bred two National ACE pigeons
one named “Marianne” raced by Daneels. In 2008 he tops
the Provincial Twice that being the fastest in Antwerp. Then in
2009 he became the 3rd National Champion of Belgium with Y/Birds
on the Major National events. Once again we paid a visit to Wim
De Troy and carefully selected a team of pigeons to bring back to
Ireland.

S Steenbergen
Albert & Stefan Steenbergen we had the privelage of meeting
in 2008 following confirmation that they were awarded the Best Middle
Distance Flyer in Belgium, plus winners of the Flanders Flying Cup,
a great honour. The father and son team have had many great achievements
over the years including 1st Provincial KBDB Yearlings Salbris,
1st National KBDB La Souteraine O/Birds, 1st Semi National KBDB
Yearlings Berlin, 1st & 2nd Semi National KBDB La Souteraine,
1st Championship Yearlings with 1st & 2nd KBDB LFC, 1st National
KBDB Yearlings Argenton; 1st Semi National Yearling Argenton, 1st
Ace Y/Bird KBDB CFW, 1st Semi National Chateauroux and 1st Semi
National KBDB Bourges 2004. A name for the future for sure in Belgium
and one that we have purchased a select draft from both the Stock
and Racing lofts.

We are very privileged to have been given the opportunity to know
Keith Morgan of the Morgan & Elton over the last couple of years
and are honoured in being given the opportunity to purchase many
of his top racers in that short space of time, these include “The

National Tours 412 miles, 32nd Open Mid National Leferte Berriard
6,940 birds 350 miles; 37th Open Mid Nat Tours; 91st Open Mid National

these are only main results in total he won £9,500 racing
with Morgan & Elton; “The 47 Hen” winner of 2nd
Midlands National Le Ferte Bernard 7,000 pigeons flying 350 miles;
19th Open Midlands National Tours; 21st Open Midlands National Picauville
13,000 pigeons flying 264 miles; 105th Open Midland National Picauville,
37th Open Midlands National Guernsey; Twice 1st Federation winning
a T.V and Video and £4,500 in two years of racing. Also dam
of “Champion Dawn” She has bred 5 x 1st Federation winners,
also a 1st & 2nd Open EDC for John Patterson of Ballylesson
in total she has bred 10 x 1st Prize Winners to four different cocks.
The Gibb & Byrne Stud also own “The 66 Hen” and
“The 10 Cock” many will know all about the racing exploits
of Morgan & Elton of Warsop in 2008 they had a year to remember
finishing the Combined Average Winner, the O/Bird Average Winner
and the Long Distance Average Winner in the Midlands National Flying
Club in 2008 also he won the O/Bird Averages, Y/Bird Averages, Channel
Averages, Combined Averages and Bird of the Year just not in the
Midlands South Road Classic Club but also the Nott’s and Derby
Border Federation, also to crown off a record year which included
a record number of 1st’s he won a Gold Medal in each of the
Channel Championship Races both from Fourgeres and Messac in the
O/Birds and also won a Gold Medal from Picauville in the Y/Birds.

Who has not heard of this lady, one of the biggest names in Europe
and once again we at The Gibb & Byrne Stud own a number of exceptional
pigeons bred by the Lady herself including children direct from
‘Tips’ this family have proved very successful for fanciers
who obtained them from us in 2009 including R & A Gore winning
Talbenny Y/Bird Derby.

The name Kees Bosua is world renowned, we had the pleasure of visiting
his lofts in 2008 and handling many of the Champions prior to his
sales. Once again we have purchased at considerable cost some exceptional
Kees Bosua’s and continue to add to this already existing
family with performance pigeons as and when they become available
including “Europa Prince” 2nd Open Europa Classic; “Golden
Ace” ACE Pigeon Europa Classic, “Ed” 33rd Open

The Kipp name in Germany and indeed world wide is massive to say
the least, Seven Times German Champion at the Distance and through
Gibb & Byrnes link with Geraldy we have had the opportunity
in getting to know Hugo very well and more importantly his excellent
team of World Class pigeons, through our friendship we have a superb
collection of the Kipp & Son pigeons at the Gibb & Byrne
Stud.

Once again this family of pigeons have proved very successful for
fanciers who have purchased from us over the last couple of years.
We have sourced a fine collection of these Hofken/Janssen pigeons
including children direct from the famous “Dream” and
“Hollywood” 1st National Ace Pigeon NPO All Holland.

Yet another Lady Fancier with exceptional talent, we have purchased
a number of pigeons from Marina’s successful Herman Ceusters
Dynasty including a number of direct children from the world renowned
“Samson” at considerable cost.

but the UK during 2009, we made a point of paying a visit to Van
Den Brande and are pleased to announce that we have acquired some
exceptional pigeons direct from the stock and racing lofts from

come to the attention of many of the modern day elite.
